Your Partner in Communication Development

Meet Katy King

With almost 21 years of experience since graduating with a BSC Hons in Speech and Language Therapy, I’ve had the privilege of supporting countless children and families on their communication journeys

“Hello! I’m Katy, and it’s a true privilege to partner with families like yours.

For over two decades, I’ve had the joy of witnessing children unlock their communication potential. My passion lies in creating a warm, supportive space where every child feels seen, heard, and excited to learn.I believe in the power of play and truly listening to what your child needs, ensuring our sessions are not just effective, but genuinely fun.

My goal is to equip you, as parents, with the confidence and tools to continue nurturing your child’s growth at home, celebrating every milestone together.

I look forward to connecting with you and exploring how we can support your child’s bright future.”

My Therapeutic Philosophy

“I believe that therapy should be engaging, motivating, and child-led. My approach is centred around play-based therapy, following your child’s interests to make learning fun and effective. Children are encouraged to move freely, whether that’s at a table, on a chair, or on the floor – whatever best supports their needs in that session.”

Parental Involvement

“Parents are an integral part of the therapy process. You’ll stay in the session to observe and learn my interaction style, so you can confidently replicate these strategies at home. I understand that every day is different, and some sessions may not go as planned. On those days, we’ll focus on supporting you as parents and discussing any challenges you’re facing.

Ongoing Support

“I’m always here for you. If you encounter any stumbling blocks or have questions between sessions, you’re welcome to text or email me for advice. I aim to get back to you on the same day, or we can arrange a phone call if needed.”

  • Are there animals in your home clinic?

Yes, my home clinic is a pet-friendly environment. I have a friendly and gentle dog named Luna and a couple of cats.

  • Will the animals be present during my session?

During your therapy session, Luna will either be resting quietly in her bed or in a separate area of the house. The cats often keep to themselves, but you might catch a glimpse of one passing by a window or napping in a sunny spot. My priority is always your comfort and privacy, so I make sure to minimize any potential distractions.

  • I have allergies. What should I do?

If you have pet allergies, please let me know before your first session. I take great care to keep the clinic area clean and free of pet dander. I can also ensure that the animals are kept in a different part of the house entirely during your appointment to prevent any issues.

  • I am afraid of or uncomfortable around animals. Can I still come to your clinic?

Absolutely. Your comfort is my top priority. If you are uncomfortable around dogs or cats, please let me know ahead of time. I can make sure that all the animals are secured in a separate area of the house so you won’t encounter them during your visit.
