Support for ASD
Speech and language therapy can have a profound impact on individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping to unlock their communication potential and foster greater independence. Our approach focuses on building a child’s ability to express themselves and connect with others in a way that feels natural and effective for them. We recognise that communication goes beyond just words, and we tailor our therapy to address a wide range of needs.
Our services for children with ASD are rooted in a child-led, play-based philosophy. This means that we follow your child’s interests and motivations, creating a relaxed and engaging environment where they can learn and grow. Katy uses her specialised training in approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, and AAC to help children with ASD develop essential skills. For example, she may use visuals and structured routines (TEACCH) to reduce anxiety and increase understanding, or teach the use of pictures to communicate wants and needs (PECS). This person-centered approach ensures that each child receives support that is specifically designed for their unique challenges and strengths.
